The snowcat rumbles to life in the cold morning air. You clip in, check your beeper, and wait for the first run. Then the doors open and the mountain is all yours. Fresh powder, wide open faces, and not a single track in sight.

I'm Filip Flisar. I raced ski cross for years and won the World Championship in 2015. Now I want to bring you to Macedonia, to a mountain most skiers never find. This is catskiing, so the snowcat takes you up and you ski down. We do this for days. It is hard work, and that is the point.

Each day starts early. Breakfast, then gear up by quarter to nine, first run at nine. You'll join a team of skiers who read the snow with the guides and trust the terrain. We pick the best lines based on the snow and the risk that day. No two days feel the same. Some days we ski right back to the door of Hotel Scardus. Lunch comes on the mountain, whenever the day allows.

You'll ski deep powder and glide through the trees. By day three, the group is in full flow. When the light fades we head back, and the evening is yours. Sauna, a massage if you want one, ping pong, or a quiet drink at the bar.

This is a hard week. Your legs will feel it. But when you stand at the top, looking down at clean white snow that no one has touched, you will know exactly why you came.

Apply to join

We read every application. Small group — and I want to get the group right. If this sounds like you, apply below.

Takes about sixty seconds. We'll WhatsApp you straight away.

Day-by-Day

Day 1

You land at Skopje Airport. I'll meet you there. Then we drive by minibus into the mountains, about 1.5 hours, to Hotel Scardus & SPA. If there's time, we'll hold a group briefing and run through the week. You'll get your avalanche safety gear. Then settle in and rest. Outside, the mountains wait in the dark.

Day 2

Day two is our first day of catskiing. Breakfast at 07:30, then gear up by 08:45. We check the snowcat and your beeper. First run at 09:00. The cat takes you up, you ski down. Untouched backcountry, all day. Lunch comes on the mountain. We finish near 16:00. Then SPA, the bar, and dinner at 19:00. Fresh tracks, deep snow.

Day 3

Day 3. Same rhythm. Snowcat up, ski down. Lunch waits for us on the mountain. We finish by 16:00. Each morning I pick the best terrain with the guides. We read the snow, the slopes, the risk. No two days are the same here. Back at the hotel, the SPA and bar wait. Fresh tracks, every single run.

Day 4

Day three on the snowcat. By now you'll read the snow well. You'll trust the terrain under your skis. The cat takes you up, you ski down. We make the most of Macedonia's wild backcountry. Fresh lines, fresh powder, all day. Come evening, you'll rest. Hit the SPA. Let your legs go quiet while the mountain stays loud in your head.

Day 5

Day four on the snowcat. By now you know the drill. The cat takes you up, you ski down. Deep powder, wide open faces, and runs through the trees. We ski hard until around 16:00. Then unwind with a massage, or just sit by the bar before dinner. Tired legs, big grins.

Day 6

Day six splits the team. The Core group eats breakfast, then transfers back to Skopje Airport. Your trip ends there. The Extended group stays on. With fewer of us, the mountain feels bigger and the pace slows down. You'll rest, recover, and get set for two more days on the snowcat. Quiet snow, more space, more lines.

Day 7

Day 7 is yours. One more full day on the snowcat. Fresh lines, familiar terrain, and the whole mountain just for us. The group is small now, so there is space to breathe and ski hard. In the evening we taste five local Macedonian wines over dinner. Powder on your boots, a glass in hand, the day still glowing.

Day 8

Day 8 is goodbye. We wake up and eat breakfast one last time. Then you'll join the team for the transfer back to Skopje International Airport. The trip ends here. But the deep powder, the wide faces, and those quiet Macedonian mountains stay with you. You carry them home in your legs and your head.
