The snow is still hard at first light. Your skins grip the track as the forest thins out. Above you, the Accursed Mountains stand cold and quiet. This is the Prokletije, wild country where Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo meet.
I'm Richard Amacker, a freeride skier from Nendaz. I won the Freeride World Tour in Chamonix back in 2012. Now I want to bring you somewhere few people ever ski. This is a seven day ski touring expedition, and it is hard.
We start near Plav, at a guesthouse in Babino Polje. On day two we climb toward Pasji Peak, over a thousand metres up, with three countries in view from the top. Then we cross into Albania over Maja e Spalit and sleep in the old village of Doberdol. The days are long. Some climbs push past a thousand metres. Your legs will feel every one.
You'll join a small team for the wide open slopes of Maja Kershit Kocajve, one of the best days of the week. We climb Tromedja Peak too, right where the three borders touch. A long descent brings us home. If you stay for the Ultra days, we go deeper still, out to Maja Bogicaj and back through Tromedja Pass.
Bring your own skis and a good pair of lungs. I'll bring the local guide, the route, and hot food each night. The terrain is remote and untouched. Empty ridges. Fresh snow under your skis. Silence you can almost hold.

We read every application. Small group — and I want to get the group right. If this sounds like you, apply below.
Day-by-Day
Day 1
You fly into Podgorica. From there we drive to Babino Polje, near Plav. You settle into the guesthouse, then meet me and the team. We check your gear. We run through the avalanche briefing. I walk you through the week ahead in the Prokletije Mountains. Tonight you rest. Outside, the peaks wait in the dark.
Day 2
Today we earn our first turns. We climb 1,000 metres through forest, then out onto open alpine ground toward Pasji Peak. The summit sits at 2,405 metres. From the top you'll see across three countries at once. Then we ski back down to Babino Polje. Your legs will ache. The silence up there stays with you.
Day 3
Today we cross into Albania. We climb to Maja e Spalit, our high point at 2,203 metres. The border sits up there, quiet and remote. We ski through wild mountain terrain, far from any road. Then we drop down to Doberdol, a small traditional village. You will sleep where few people ever go.
Day 4
Day 4 is one of the best. We climb Maja Kershit Kocajve, deep in the Albanian Alps. That means 700 to 1,000 metres of climbing, up to 2,397 metres. The slopes open wide here. The scenery is remote and still. You will earn every turn. Then we ski back down to Doberdol. Just white peaks and quiet.
Day 5
Day five is the big one. We climb to Tromedja Peak, 2,366 metres high. This is where Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo all meet. Three countries, one summit. Then a long descent takes us back to Babino Polje. From there, we transfer to Plav. You stand on three lands at once, snow all around.
Day 6
Day 6 is here, and it comes too soon. We share a last breakfast together. Then you'll pack your gear and climb into the transfer to the airport. Think back on the peaks, the three-country summits, the long descents through wild snow. The tour ends here. But the Prokletije still hold your tracks.
Day 7
Day 7 is your last day on skis. We leave Gacaferi and head back toward Babino Polje. The route runs over Tromedja Pass, one final traverse through quiet, open mountains. Then we drive down to Plav for a closing celebration. Lift a glass with the team. Boots off, mountains behind you, the quiet still ringing.
Day 8
It's your last morning here. We eat breakfast together one more time. Then I'll see you to your transfer for the airport. The tour ends here. Think back on the peaks you climbed, the deep snow, the quiet miles through the Accursed Mountains. You earned every turn. Carry that with you out the door.
